Just be good to me.. Be good to me.
Chris Richardson was my name. I was returning back home from his extremely fearsome quarrel with his boss. And what ended up next, he was given the sack. Think of it, he is only 24 years old. Not only that, he had only work as an employee for less than 6 months and now he has to repeat the steps of looking for an interview through the internet, newspaper or through friends. But then, he thought that it was alright, especially with the part that he thinks that quarreling with the boss is a good idea, as he was trying to stand up for some of his own dignity. Unfortunately for him, everyone but him knows how to think in a clearer environment and anticipating the concequences that would happen if they did.
As he opened the doors of his house, his father, Adam Richardson, started to look at him, with his eye tears filled with disappointment. He is only 24 years old, a fresh graduate from a decent university and yet, he still got sacked within less than 1 year of his job. They did not exchanged any words until his mother came in. Hilary Shades. A slightly plump woman who is about the same height as Adam, and has those hazel eyes that are similar compared to Chris.
Looking at the large box full of Chris' stationary and files which Chris himself has carried. She looked extremely shocked.
" What happened again, Sweetheart? Had another quarrel with your boss again? " she asked.
" Yeah, i guess that you are right. I should not be messing around with him. Look, Mum, looking at the facts of what happened, i think that it is obvious enough and I dont think I would want to talk about this subject again. " he replied.
" As you wish, but you better get another soon. I heard that there are 2 vacant slots available at the position of the newspaper editor. I know you want that job. And now, the opportunity has arrived. Not only that, you have to find a job soon. You cannot depend on us old folks to continue feed you and take care of you like for the rest of our lives until we die.. "
" Yes, Mum. I know that. I would try to attend the interview on Wednesday. And hopefully, i would be able to get that job. "
Trying to take a break from his long day of work before he got fired, he started to turn on the Xbox 360 and turned on his wireless electric guitar from his Guitar
Hero set. After he was done with the configurations, he started to play some songs with it. He started off with Expert Mode of " You give love a bad name " By Bon Jovi. But then, as there was too many things that were taking up all the space that his mind could offer, his concentration skills had dropped tremendously. Thus, instead of making some entertainment music to keep him cool. He ended up making soe horrible screeches and wrong keys for the guitar, and his online band has been eliminated from the audition rounds of the competition. He felt extremely sad, thinking that the fact that he was fired seems to carry a lot of weight to him.
And as days past, Wednesday had finally arrived. He was sitting on the couch of where the interview office would be, and he took out some newspapers to read from the table just next to him. He then looked at the clock. It says 9.30 am. The interview was at 10 am. He was early by that much. As the seconds and minutes passed by, there were quite a lot of people queueing up for that position. They came in alone or by pairs, sitting down on chairs or on a couch, taking out newspapers and started to read. One by one they were called in to do the interview. And unfortunately for me, even though i was the first one to arrive at the interview, i was not the first to enter the room. How sad isnt it? 2 hours had passed and the waiting area is slowly getting to have less people around. Looks like no one has been able to take over the position as a newspaper editor yet. My heart started to pound with more confidence as that thought came inside my mind. And for some reason, i was happy. Maybe the chances of me getting the job is higher. But soon, it was just a woman and me. She looked extremely dazzling, her hair was like so silky, so well done. And her face was like the sunshine to me. She kinda reminded me of my friend. Well, when I was still wondering, a voice came out.
" Chris Richardson, You're next on the list! "
I nodded my head. As I stood up and walked to the office, I heard a soft whisper that said to me :
" Good Luck "
I looked at her. She was smiling at me. She was hoping for me! I then told the office assistant, saying that I left my jacket behind. As I walked back, I looked at her in the eyes. When I headed back to the office, I gathered all my courage to ask her one question :
" Would you like to have coffee with me someday? " I asked
" Oh no, I'm so sorry. I have an appointment today. " she replied.
" Oh thats okay, you dont have to apologize to me .. "
I turned my back and just walked into the office.
The interview was quite interesting. Just some casual questions about what is going on in the world right now, and how would I perform if I was a newspaper editor. The interview for me was surprisingly long. For others, it was just 5 minutes. But for me, it was 20. I thought if that was a good or a bad thing. As my interview was done, the office assistant asked me to stay outside to wait.
Great, more waiting time for me. I did not say a word and just nodded my hand. As I came out, the women was still there. And the office assistant said that the interviewers wanted a break. I thought, How slack could that be? As they given us 5 minutes, we were bored - extremely bored. We started to introduce ourselves to one another.
" Hi, my name is Chris Richardson. Whats yours? " i introduced.
" My name is Autumn Windfree. So, about that coffee, I guess I could just cancel my appointment as it was extremely minor. " she introduced back.
Upon hearing those words, I started to smile. Soon, we exchanged more and more words, and finally, she got in and out.
We went to Starbucks. I ordered a cup of coffee as usual while she ordered a Passion Mango Fruit.
After talking alot, she then started to do what almost all american women do, kissing a single man, over a cup of coffee. I was thinking,
Maybe I should stop.
Well thats the end for my first chapter of my story! Well, If my life was a movie! Bye!
